“I first met Paul [Daykin] in 2010 and was impressed by his unique approach to combining risk assessments and common sense advice for businesses…Being able to deliver expert advice in Security, Fire Safety and Health and Safety , in a style that is both thorough and yet easy to understand marks him out from others in the Risk industry…Paul’s method of combining relevant photographic evidence with simple concise recommendations with sources of information , makes his reports easy to read in just a few minutes…"

" 4 Risk Prevention and Paul have now been retained by Spark to provide advice to all our thirty social enterprise investments across the UK.”

First Fruit Warehouse - Plastic and Furniture Recycling

"As a high risk environment with a high turnover of low skilled workers I am aware of many dangers associated with working in the Recycling Industry.  I believe that through the work we have done with  Paul Daykin of 4 Risk Prevention has helped us prevent a very serious accident or even worse. He has completely overhauled our Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Security systems and procedures. An unexpected bonus from Paul's ideas has been increased Staff morale and a rise in capacity and productivity of over 200% ! "

"We have retained 4 Risk Prevention for 2011 and welcome the excellent support offered by Paul.”

Rob Owusu  - Managing Director First Fruit Warehouse

Hereford Cathedral School - An Independent School

“Mr Paul Daykin has been working with Hereford Cathedral School to review our Health & Safety Policy, Fire Risk Policy and Emergency Procedure Plan. Paul’s work has been invaluable, he has provided an in depth report highlighting all the main areas of risk within the School together with practical advise on how to implement remedial action.

The use of photographic material within the reports has made it easy to show Senior Managers and other staff some of the dangers that can occur if processes and procedures are not followed at all times and has had a much greater impact than the usual checklist of issues. Paul has worked closely with my facilities manager and maintenance team giving them one to one guidance remaining professional and supportive at all times.”

Fire Risk Assessment

"I had a visit from a Fire Brigade Officer who gave me ten days to do a Fire Risk Assessment for my Physiotherapy Practice in the West-End of London. Paul Daykin was recommended to me by one of my patients and what a relief it was to work with a professional advisor !

Paul put together a Fire Risk Assessment that was straightforward and easy to use. Fire risks were highlighted and Paul used high quality photos throughout his report. I was able to act on Paul's recommendations so that when the Fire Brigade Officer came back, the Practice passed with flying colours. So thank you Paul ! "

Advising on the EON / RoSPA Remote Workers Project

" Paul Daykin has been a member of the remote workers project group since October 2009. He has been a real source of invaluable support and his practical knowledge has been extremely useful.

In my opinion Paul’s personal experience and understanding of the challenges that businesses and individuals face when working alone outdoors , in an office or elsewhere, is invaluable to Business Managers and Health and Safety professionals in this field. He has suggested various practical solutions to complex problems and this has made him an asset to the group".

Urban Regeneration Projects in Shoreditch , London

" Paul Daykin, in my professional opinion, has made a unique and invaluable contribution to the urban regeneration of Shoreditch , London. More often than not Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design [CPTED] is not considered as part of the regeneration process. When considered it is often only done when an area is failing and people complain about crime and fear of crime. Built Environment Professionals ,  often architects, developers and planners tasked with looking at crime prevention as part of the design process, lack practical experience in combating crime and have little understanding of the ‘modus operandi’  or psychology of criminals.

A typical question you would hear Paul ask designers and architects when discussing crime prevention and environmental features that would affect crime, was if they had visited the site late at night. By far the most common answer to this question was no - and yet the majority of crime issues would arise at night - Paul just used a Common Sense approach to identifying and solving problems.

From its’ inception in Shoreditch, Paul was part of the multi-discipline project team where his first task often was to dispel myths surrounding crime, the fear of crime and then assist in the design of plans informed by Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. A good example of this work was his involvement on the regeneration of Shoreditch Park and the use of energy-efficient LED lighting , a first for a UK park. [Pictured opposite]

As a former Crime Prevention Design Advisor with the Metropolitan Police, Paul has the eye, situational awareness , knowledge and experience required to make CPTED an integral part of any regeneration process. Paul understands, contributes and complements the work of Architects and all those involved in urban regeneration. He works with them to create attractive places and buildings - not fortresses. These buildings and  places are in turn less likely to fall victim to the need for ad-hoc, embarrassing and expensive remedial works because of high crime levels in areas where crime prevention was not considered as part of the process."
